From July 6th to 8th, the Joint meeting of the Textile Engineering Professional Sub-Committee of the Textile Professional Teaching Steering Committee and the Teaching Deans of Textile Departments, as well as the Seminar on the Construction of the Textile Engineering major, was held at the Boda Campus of Xinjiang University.
Members of the teaching steering committee for Textile Engineering from multiple universities across the country, deans and teaching deans of related colleges of textile engineering, as well as teacher representatives, engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on key issues such as the construction of the textile engineering major and talent cultivation.
The current textile industry is accelerating its progress towards intelligence, greenness and high-end development, which puts forward higher requirements for the comprehensive quality and innovation ability of textile engineering professionals.
Under the background of the new engineering discipline, the textile engineering major should actively explore innovative talent cultivation models. Yu Chongwen, the director of the Textile Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, believes that on the one hand, it is necessary to emphasize interdisciplinary integration, incorporating knowledge from multiple disciplines such as information technology and materials science into textile teaching to cultivate students' comprehensive qualities and innovative abilities. On the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen the practical teaching link. By establishing off-campus internship bases and carrying out practical projects, students' ability to solve practical problems can be enhanced, and more high-quality talents with an international perspective, innovative spirit and practical ability can be cultivated for the textile industry.
Xinjiang, as a significant national textile industrial base, has formed a complete industrial chain from cotton planting to textile processing. In recent years, the College of Textile and Clothing of Xinjiang University has integrated digital technology into its curriculum construction, launched micro-majors such as smart wearables, and established an integrated talent cultivation model of "industry-university-research-application" by jointly building a research institute with Aksu Textile Industrial City and conducting technological research with enterprises.
Relying on the regional industrial advantages, the school will further deepen cooperation with other domestic universities, take the opportunity of engineering education accreditation to optimize the training program, and focus on cultivating compound talents with both textile professional capabilities and digital literacy, providing talent support for the high-quality development of Xinjiang's textile industry and the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative". Xia Xin, the dean of the College of Textile and Clothing at Xinjiang University, said.
At the symposium for representatives from various institutions, the participating institutions also engaged in a lively discussion on topics such as the promotion of engineering education accreditation for the textile engineering major, the achievements and challenges of new engineering discipline construction, and measures for the connotation construction of the major. The representatives all expressed that they would take this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen inter-school exchanges and cooperation, share high-quality educational resources, and jointly promote the in-depth development of the educational and teaching reform of the textile engineering major.
